Do You Actually Know How To Wash Your Hair?

I didn\’t until I was in the my thirties and there\’s a chance you\’re doing it wrong too.

Shampoo is for cleaning your scalp.

This was news to me too. I used to squeeze a bunch of shampoo into my hand and slop it on the same spot on the crown of my head before working it around my hair. Lather, rinse, repeat? Please, I\’ve got a good lather running down these locks – no need to do it twice. WRONG.

I would always end up with this spot just below the crown of my head that never felt clean – left over product residue.

I tried clarifying shampoos – which if you use too often can dry things out. I would dry my hair then get out and rewash the residue spot in the sink and dry it again. I\’ve even used apple cider vinegar and dish soap to try and wash the excess product away. That patch of my hair was more dry than the rest and didn\’t grow the same as the rest of the hairs on my head.

Also, I struggled with hair growth, breakage and dryness.

CUE THE HOW TO VIDEO

I fell for a multi-level marketing miracle hair system and the best thing that came out of it, is I learned how to actually wash my hair. Because this was a hair system and not just shampoo and conditioner, I was all over you tube wanting to be sure I was doing it right.

SO, HERE\’S HOW TO PROPERLY WASH YOUR HAIR…

  • Use a quarter sized amount of shampoo and lather it up well in your hands first.
  • Make sure your hair is nice and wet
  • Scrub your scalp – not aggressively but throughly. All over. A clean scalp is a happy scalp that produces happier hair. The first shampoo lather is for the scalp.
  • Rinse.
  • Repeat. But this time I start at a different spot on my head. The first shampoo cleans around my hairline and the top of my head then to the back, the second I start with a good lather in my hands and focus on the dreaded crown area then around.

The lather and the scrubbing tends to clean down the hair as well. If you have very long hair you may need to give a little extra attention to the hair itself.

BUT REMEMBER, CONDITIONER IS FOR THE ENDS
